Let us know if you're coming.

And see you there!!

Compare or complement your literature review : research reviews, review articles or literature reviews

Keyword ini boleh dimasukkan dalam inverted commas

Di column Refine results, di bawah Search within results for anda taipkan keyword, contohnya Facebook.

Hasilnya adalah seperti berikut.

“The International Handbook of Research on Conceptual Change consists of twenty-seven chapters that clarify the nature of conceptual change research, describes its most important findings and demonstrates their importance for education. It is organized into six sections that include detailed discussions of key theoretical and methodological issues, the roots of conceptual change research in the philosophy and history of science, mechanisms of conceptual change, and learner characteristics. It also contains chapters that describe conceptual change research in the content areas such as physics, astronomy, biology, medicine and health, and history.” (sumber review :  www.

• Mula-mula sekali mesti tahu apa nak diketahui, know what you want to know.  Tahu topik dulu,  research question nanti define kemudian selepas anda mendalami background and contextualizing information dalam topik anda.

• Bagaimana cari topik, itu terpulang kepada anda.  Sebab minat kot?  Walau bukan mudah, tapi setelah ada topik, tanya diri kenapa anda mengkajinya dan apa rasionalnya?

Contohnya:

1.    Namakan topik anda.
                   Saya sedang mengkaji......

2.    Fikirkan persoalan anda.
                   kerana saya ingin mengetahui siapa/bagaimana/kenapa......

3.    Nyatakan rasional persoalan.

Britannica Online Academic - a rich online resource containing the Britannica Encyclopedia, Merriam Webster Dictionary, biography and other research tools.

Gale Virtual Reference Library - a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.

Health and Wellness Resource Center including resources from Gale Encyclopaedia of Medicine, Medical and Health Information Directory and Merriam-Webster’s Medical Desk Dictionary.

SAGE Knowledge - the ultimate social sciences digital library with an expansive range of SAGE eBook and eReference content from dictionaries, encyclopaedias, debate series and handbooks.

The Encyclopaedia of Computer Science - the definitive reference in computer science and technology.

Repost: Social Media: Libraries Are Posting, but Is Anyone Listening?

by Nancy Dowd

If there are over 1 billion people on Facebook and the Twitterverse can help topple governments, then it only makes sense that libraries would also be using these two social media channels to connect with their communities, right? Well yes and no.

Libraries are using social media, that’s clear. According to Library Journal’s Survey on Public Library Marketing Methods and Best Practices, 86 percent of libraries said they were using social media. The top two social media platforms used by libraries were Facebook (99 percent) and Twitter (56 percent). Pinterest is making some gains, with 30 percent of libraries reporting that they are pinning.

The problem is that 48 percent of libraries surveyed said they weren’t measuring their efforts at all. While the survey didn’t ask if libraries are getting fans to interact with them, most libraries I have spoken with lately have said they were still struggling with that.

INFO SHARING@PTAR - Library Connect Newsletter: Research data Management

1) Feeding an ORCID: Libraries encourage researchers to register for the new identifier
Library Connect shares the experience of two librarians in promoting and implementing ORCID at their institutions. With ORCID, short for the Open Researcher and Contributor ID repository, researchers can register online for a unique identifier (ID). This facilitates full and correct attribution of their research activities and outputs.

2) Research data driving new services
Research data has always been at the core of much scientific research, though the primary conduit of scientific communication has been the peer-reviewed journal article. The article summarizes, synthesizes and interprets the raw data, places the data in the context of theory and hypotheses and mechanisms, and takes a point of view on the data. However, it does not provide sufficient details on the data to facilitate integration within larger data contexts, or alternative synthesis and interpretation.

3) Open access: Current developments, future perspectives
Open access (OA) is high on the political agenda not only in the US, but also in many other parts of the world. Many of you are aware of the OA policy recommendations of the Finch Report in the UK. Elsevier supported the results of the report and how it shifted the conversation from the need for an  OA policy to when and how a managed transition to OA would be achieved.

4) The library's role in implementing MOOCs
Academic libraries are continually evolving to adapt to changing methods of research, teaching and learning. This evolution includes creating or acquiring tools and resources (primarily digital ones) to serve students and faculty. While this responsibility is not new, the pace of change has accelerated, while resources have been constrained by the current economic situation.

5) Data revival: Old data becoming new
When people talk about data management, they are often referring to the shiny, exciting new data that is promised with a newly funded grant project. Sometimes they mean a nearly completed research project where they are interested in data stewardship; less often they are talking about preserving the data on some form of nearly outdated media requested by the researcher. Rarely, however, are people talking about data sets captured in print as part of the corpus of reports and grey literature on our library shelves.

Repost: Maximizing space at our libraries through innovation, shared collections

Maine libraries are searching for innovative ways to deal with the many challenges they are facing today, such as lack of space and budget cuts, which have affected their ability to store legacy print collections.

Growing evidence shows that many print materials were never checked out after being purchased. In addition, large-scale print digitization projects are making many low-use titles available online. Maine’s robust interlibrary loan system means that patrons have fast and easy access to materials stored in other Maine libraries. This allows libraries to discard material they can get from other reliable sources. However, the discarding process needs to be coordinated in a way to ensure that copies of the material are still accessible in Maine.

In 2010, nine Maine library partners — the Bangor and Portland public libraries, the Maine State Library, the University of Maine, the University of Southern Maine, Maine InfoNet and Bates, Colby and Bowdoin colleges — submitted a grant application to the national Institute of Museum and Library Services to create the Maine Shared Collections Strategy.

The institute approved the grant and released $821,065 to fund the Maine Shared Collections Strategy. The partners also contribute matching cost-sharing funds. The grant is administered through the University of Maine and is overseen by a project team that represents the respective library constituencies.

Repost: Daegu Gosan Public Library In Korea: A Temple Of Knowledge

Architects Łukasz Wawrzeńczyk, Frisly Colop Morales, Jason Easter, and Adrian Yau understand that the cultural importance of the public library lies within the inherent power of the knowledge which it holds. This knowledge can be a significant life-altering force for the patrons of the library and furthermore within the larger community which it serves.

The methods by which this information is contained and transmitted are continually evolving, yet the correlation between access to such information and issues such as upward social mobility and increased life opportunity are evident.

The Daegu Gosan Public Library, like many libraries, stands as the physical manifestation of the concept of shared knowledge. As such, it is temple of knowledge, honoring the book as the foundation media of information communication, and making way for the new learning trends that result from the current digital movement.

The library also provides opportunities for intellectual trade and growth both analog and digital within the Suseong-gu community.  Furthermore, it celebrates Daegu as a place rich with culture and an evolving demographic that places high value on the acquisition of knowledge.
