Kepada semua warga UiTM dan peminat keris, tuan/puan adalah dijemput hadir bersama-sama memeriahkan Majlis Perasmian Pameran Warisan & Pusaka Melayu: Keris & Silat dan Seminar " Keris : 1 Pengenalan" seperti ketetapan berikut:-

Tempat: Ruang Legar PTAR 1

Antara objektif pameran ini adalah untuk mendekati golongan muda melalui pameran dan sesi perkongsian maklumat bagi melestarikan warisan dan pusaka Melayu, serta menambah nilai, mencintai sejarah dan warisan serta mempertingkatkan masyarakat yang berdaya kreatif dan berbudaya.

Pelbagai aktiviti menarik telah disediakan. Antaranya ialah:-
-Pameran Keris (Galeri PTAR) – Sebanyak 84 jenis keris daripada 8 Pemilik Keris Persatuan Senipurba Nusantara Selangor (PURBA)
-Pameran Senjata daripada Persatuan Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia (PSSGM)
-Pameran Lukisan oleh S. Amin Shahab (Pengarah, Pelakon dan Aktivis Seni) 
-Seminar “ Keris: 1 Pengenalan”
-Peragaan Busana Melayu
-Persembahan Demo Silat Seni Gayong
-Persembahan Amanat Warisan daripada En. Azam Mokhtar
-Gerai Jualan Keris
-Kuiz
-Pertandingan i-Read (mengarang esei) “ Belia Pewaris Pusaka dan Warisan Melayu”

Tuan/puan adalah dijemput hadir beramai-ramai  bagi memeriahkan lagi majlis. 

Pameran Keris yang berlansung di Galeri PTAR hanya 1 hari sahaja (10 April 2012), dan akan diikuti oleh Pameran Lukisan S. Amin Shahab pada 11 April sehingga 20 April 2012.

Change needed to make national libraries more interesting

KUALA LUMPUR: Boring, unexciting places that one would go to only if they had to. That was the honest answer given by some Malaysians when asked about the national libraries.


Some also found the library a place that is only suitable for children and university students. They believe the library is of no benefit to those past those ages.


Some Malaysians see the library as merely a place to search for references for their studies or research fields. It would be unfair to label these people as those who are not keen readers.


One may say this is because reading materials now have gone beyond what is printed on paper. We now have smartphone applications that feature all sorts of reading materials.


Perhaps, gaining access to such material no longer necessitates a visit to the library.


It is a different scenario at popular bookstores such as MPH, Kinokuniya, Borders and warehouse-type bookshops that sell books at a discount.
The number of visitors to such places is evidently greater than to libraries.
This quashes the theory that the latest technology has killed the public’s interest in reading printed books.


Interestingly, many are more willing to buy books from such bookstores than to read them for free at the libraries in the country. Why is this so?


Many studies have been done on the importance of environment in stimulating the interest of a person toward an activity or hobby.


An encouraging environment is a motivational factor in a person’s life. In addition to boosting a person’s work spirit, it can also help a person enjoy the time spent in a place, such as a library.

What is creativity?

Creativity is the bringing into being of something which did not exist before, either as a product, a process or a thought.


You would be demonstrating creativity if you: 
#1-Invent something which has never existed before
#2-Invent something which exists elsewhere but you are not aware of
#3-Invent a new process for doing something
#4-Reapply an existing process or product into a new or different market
#5-Develop a new way of looking at something (bringing a new idea into existence)
#6-Change the way someone else looks at something

In fact, we are all creative every day because we are constantly changing the ideas which we hold about the world about us. Creativity does not have to be about developing something new to the world, it is more to do with developing something new to ourselves. 


When we change ourselves, the world changes with us, both in the way that the world is affected by our changed actions and in the changed way that we experience the world.


Creativity can be used to make products, processes and services better and it can be used to create them in the first place. It is expected that increasing your creativity will help you, your organization and your customers become happier through improvements in your quality and quantity of output.

Pemeriksa Luar Negara Nilai Penuntut PhD UiTM

SHAH ALAM, 31 Jan (Bernama) -- Penuntut Ijazah Doktor Falsafah (PhD) di Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) akan dinilai oleh pemeriksa dari luar negara mulai tahun ini dalam usaha memastikan mereka setaraf dengan lulusan di peringkat antarabangsa.

Naib Canselor UiTM Prof Datuk Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar berkata langkah itu akan membolehkan lulusan PhD dari UiTM menghasilkan kajian lebih berkualiti selain diiktiraf universiti seluruh dunia.

"Sebelum ini, pemeriksa dari dalam negara sahaja, jadi dalam usaha meningkatkan kualiti akademik di UiTM kita membuat keputusan supaya hasil kajian dinilai pemeriksa dari luar negara yang pakar dalam bidang masing-masing," katanya pada sidang media selepas menyampaikan Perutusan Tahun Baru Naib Canselor 2012 di Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor UiTM di sini, pada Selasa.

Sahol Hamid berkata langkah itu juga selaras dengan fokus utama UiTM tahun ini iaitu meningkatkan kualiti dalam bidang akademik, pensyarah, graduan dan program yang ditawarkan.

Beliau berkata UiTM menggalakkan penuntutnya memilih multi disiplin dalam pengajian mereka, contohnya pemegang diploma dalam fotografi melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat ijazah dalam bidang komunikasi dan pengajian media.

"UiTM akan meneruskan matlamatnya menjadi universiti yang melahirkan graduan kebolehpasaran iaitu mereka mampu mendapat pekerjaan sebaik tamat pengajian.

"Bukan bermakna kita tidak menjadi research university, tetapi fokus utama ialah untuk memastikan kebolehpasaran graduan," kata Sahol Hamid.

Pada majlis itu, Pro Canselor UiTM Tan Sri Arshad Ayub melancarkan buku karya Sahol Hamid bertajuk "Maxims of University Leadership" dan nama baru Pusat Penerbitan Universiti UiTM yang kini dikenali sebagai UiTM Press.

Mengenai buku tulisannya, Sahol Hamid berkata ia menceritakan pengalamannya dalam mengurus dan mentadbir dengan berkesan.

Dalam pada itu, Arshad berkata UiTM berada pada landasan betul terutama dalam usaha melahirkan graduan berkualiti selain perlu terus memainkan peranannya bagi memajukan penuntut Melayu dan Bumiputera.

Bahagian Hal Ehwal Akademik UiTM turut melancarkan buku Transformasi Akademik UiTM (AcT 2012) bermotokan "Act On It" dalam usaha memacu kecemerlangan akademik universiti berkenaan.
